Hard golf travel bags are the premium in protection.  They are built like a tank and will keep your precious clubs safe and sound no matter how far or often you travel.

There are dozens and dozens makes, models and types fo hard travel bags to choose from.  The big name brands are the New Sweet Spot Guardian cases, the Bag Boy line, Sun Mountain and Datrek.  Those are the main ones to research.  There are other brands, but you can’t go wrong with these.

The two main choices of travel bags is hard case and soft case.  The soft case will allow you to stuff more into them as they are pliable.  I have been known to throw more shoes and clothes in my soft case bag.  The hard case is what it is.  The space available is substantially less, but the level of protection of your clubs is much greater.

With the way the baggage handlers throw bags around, the hard travel case will endure much more abuse than a soft one will.  So there are many pros and cons to each, and it all comes down to what you ultimately value more.  Protection or volume. Do you want to put more stuff in them?  The soft case is the best one.  Do you want protection?  The hard case is a “no-brainer”.

Once you’ve made your decision, the only thing left is brand.  You can’t go wrong with a Sun Mountain or Datrek.  The price points are close, but you need to really look at them to make a valid comparison.
